Welcome to Hooked Fly Fishing Charters, offering guided drift boat tours on the Bow River in and around Calgary, Alberta. Come and enjoy a day with us fishing from the comfort of our 16 foot guide boat on the famed Bow River, known as a blue ribbon fishery. 


We’ll be targeting the infamous ‘Silver Bullet’ Rainbow Trout and feisty Brown Trout. Named for their renowned fighting and aerial acrobatics, Bow River Rainbow Trout have earned the nickname of Silver Bullets. Not to be outdone, resident Brown Trout aggressively take streamers, nymphs, and dries and give you a fight to remember. These wild fish on the Bow River average 18-22”, definitely worth a photo!

Whether you're a seasoned angler or a beginner, fly fishing on the Bow River provides an incredible sense of adventure and connection to nature. It's a place where technique, patience, and appreciation for the wilderness intersect, leaving anglers with lasting memories and a deep appreciation for this remarkable fishing destination.

Meet y​our guide

Born and raised in Calgary, Matthew has been fishing the Bow River and streams in southern Alberta for 15 years. Running a fly fishing guide boat has allowed Matthew to share his passion for fishing with guests who are eager to see Calgary and the Alberta foothills from a different vantage point. Matthew is keen to teach beginners the basics of casting and reading the river, as well as hosting experienced anglers find their trophy trout.


Matthew rows a 16 foot aluminum drift boat that provides a stable and comfortable platform to fish the Bow River. It is fully outfitted with rods, flies, and a big net!

Full Day Drift Charter

Starting at $525

Full day drift charters take 7-10 hours. There are plenty of different sections of the Bow that we can explore and fish. Talk to us about what you're interested in. Options include floating the city section right through the middle of downtown, to exploring the lower reach of the Bow River as it flows southeast of the city towards Carseland.

Guests are welcome to use their own gear if they have it.

Full day trips start at $525 and can accommodate up to two anglers per boat. Complete the form below for more details on trip packages and drift options.

Bow RIver Rainbow Trout

Half Day Drift Charter

Starting at $450

Half day drift charters can take anywhere from 4-6 hours. There are a number of launch points along the Bow River that allows for many options for creating a fishing experience that matches your timeline. Things that impact drift time include river flow rates, weather, fishing style, and how many stops we make, not to mention the distance between launch sites. Let us know what you are interested in and we'll make a plan that works for everyone!

Fly Rods and Sparkle Minow

What's included? All charters include fly rods, reels and flies, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, and transportation. Summer floats are best done in shorts and sturdy shoes that allow you to wet wade. Full day charters include a gourmet deli style lunch.

What's not included? Personal clothing like rain gear, sunglasses, and other fishing apparel, Alberta Fishing License, and gratuity for your guide.
